Hi there, my name is Simon North, I am a freelance web designer and developer based in Huddersfield, England. My passion is design and as such I am always up to date with the latest technologies and practices in order to provide my clients with the best possible website. I also pride myself on bulding professional and friendly relationships with my clients which in return means I have never had an unhappy client.

I specialise in Wordpress, jQuery and portfolio design, however my skills set also includes web design and coding /development in standards complient XHTML/HTML, tableless CSS, PHP and MySQL. My prices start from around £700 for a basic brochure website.

Gabriel Kwayie is an upcoming fashion designer and came to me wanting a website to showcase his work.

He wanted to achieve a website that had a lot of depth and texture, so I suggested some brilliant textures to form the background of the site. I then used jQuery to deliver some nice visual effects, sliding functionality on the portfolio and a nice simple introduction page.

Codethatdesign is a coding service that I run.

For version three of this site design I wanted to make sure that it had a professional and simple look so that focus could be on the content rather than the design itself. I added warm blues and image substitution to provide a simple yet effective design. I also integrated jQuery to showcase the portfolio in an accordion style and a tabbed area on the homepage.

Dark Portfolio Template

This was a template I produced for ThemeForest.

The template came in 4 colours which could be changed from an options page in the admin backend. It used a jQuery based slider to display the portfolio on the homepage along with an about section and the latest posts from the blog.

This is version five of my main portfolio.

For this version I wanted to create a simple design and then apply a dark red background to give the site a sense of warmth and to highlight the content. I then integrated jQuery to enhance the user experience and showcase my work effectively.

My personal blog

For my personal blog I wanted a one page site where you could scroll between the sections and navigate through the posts easily. Similarly to my main portfolio I wanted to be able to create a relatively simple design and then add an effective background in order to add texture. I then used image substitution so that I could use custom fonts to enhance the design.

Eric Nunlee (Wordpress Development)

Eric Nunlee came to me with his design and asked me to code and integrate it with Wordpress

He wanted to showcase his portfolio and to blog from the same site, to do this I worked with the Wordpress CMS. I also integrated jQuery to add sleek effects and make good use of the screen real estate.
